National Children’s Dental Health Month at Delta Dental of New Jersey

February 25, 2020

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, a period designed to bring awareness to the importance of keeping our kids’ teeth in tip-top shape in order to set them up for a healthy smile throughout the rest of their lives.

We’ve partnered with many organizations to bring National Children’s Dental Health Month to you.

To get people excited, we’ve kicked things off by attending UCONN Basketball’s pregame Junior Huskie Kids Health and Wellness events on Jan. 19 and 26.

After that, we’ll be at Seton Hall on Feb. 1 to help distribute 250 oral health goody bags, which include a Delta Dental Floss Chart, featuring our oral health superhero, Captain Supertooth, and the Seton Hall Pirate, in the pregame Kids Zone.

Throughout the month of February (through April), Captain Supertooth will be visiting pre-k through first graders throughout New Jersey, talking to them about healthy foods, visiting their dentist, and brushing and flossing regularly with the help of his friend, Mr. Chompers. Learn more from Captain Supertooth on our YouTube Channel.

As Feb. 7 is Give Kids A Smile Day, we’ll be spending the morning volunteering with KinderSmile from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. before heading over to the Newark Girls and Boys Club from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. There may or may not be a Big Red toothbrush appearance in Newark!

On Feb. 23, we’ll be hosting an oral health fair at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City with Rutgers School of Dental Medicine and Hudson County Dental Society. This year’s oral health fair is themed, “Building Healthy Smiles,” and includes interactive games and stations designed to engage youngsters (and their families) in learning about the importance of a healthy smile. There will be give-a-ways and lots of toothbrushes! Our event is free with admission to the Center – we’ll be there from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.!

We’ve also partnered with three different New Jersey Girl Scout troops to kick off a pilot program, led by Delta Dental associates, to earn their first Delta Dental Girl Smile Power patch.

As you can see, there’s a lot going on in support of National Children’s Dental Health Month. What do you have planned?
