Delta Dental Vice President Barry Petruzzi Appointed to the Board of Directors of Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey

PARSIPPANY, N.J. — December 19, 2023—Delta Dental of New Jersey is pleased to announce that Barry Petruzzi, Vice President of Underwriting and Actuarial, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ).

Petruzzi brings over 25 years of actuarial experience to his new role on the CIANJ’s over 60-person board. Petruzzi joined Delta Dental in 2019 and is responsible for developing and maintaining pricing structures and underwriting guidelines, as well as determining the Company’s reserve liabilities. His deep knowledge of insurance and the business landscape in New Jersey positions him as a valuable member of the CIANJ board. Before joining Delta Dental, Petruzzi was vice president and chief group actuary for Prudential Financial.

About Barry Petruzzi 

Barry Petruzzi currently serves as Vice President of Underwriting and Actuarial Services at Delta Dental of New Jersey and Delta Dental of Connecticut. 

Petruzzi is responsible for developing and maintaining Delta Dental’s pricing structures and underwriting guidelines. He’s also responsible for determining the company’s reserve liabilities and assisting with developing financial projections. Petruzzi provides the senior leadership team strategic perspectives on actuarial and underwriting matters and supports the organization’s overall corporate objectives.

Petruzzi is active within the actuarial industry and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a frequent speaker at meetings hosted by the Society of Actuaries and Group Underwriters Association of America. 

Prior to joining Delta Dental, Petruzzi was Vice President and Chief Group Actuary for Prudential Financial. Petruzzi has more than 25 years of experience in the Group Life/Disability marketplace, having held senior leadership positions at The Hartford and Guardian Life Insurance Company of America over the course of his career. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Penn State University.
