Frequently Asked Questions & Savings

Will my current dentist accept the plan?

Our Find a Dentist tool makes it easy to find a new dentist near you or to check if your existing dentist is in-network. Since you haven’t enrolled in a plan yet, select “all” when you’re asked to choose your network. VSP also makes it easy for you to find an in-network eye doctor near you.

What is the difference between in-network and out-of-network in terms of costs and savings?

You will always get the best savings by visiting an in-network provider. The Delta Dental PPO network saves members an average of 45%, while the Delta Dental Premier network saves members an average of 32%.4 Even if you visit an out-of-network dentist, Delta Dental will still pay a portion of the allowed fee, but you will also be responsible for paying the difference between the dentist’s usual fee and the amount they’ve agreed to charge patients covered by Delta Dental.

Here is an example of how using an in-network dentist can save you money when getting a $1,562 crown.

Service (Crown) Dentist's Fee Plan Pays You Pay
In-Network Dentist $1,100 (Negotiated Rate) $550 $550
Out-of-Network Dentist $1,562 (Full Price) $550 $1,012
