Dentis-Trees Program: Planting Trees, Spreading Smiles

January 23, 2019

Delta Dental of New Jersey, in an effort to encourage dentists to enroll in direct deposit, held its second installment of its successful Dentis-Trees program. For every participating dental office that enrolled in direct deposit from February 1 through April 1 this year, Delta Dental of New Jersey made a donation to the NJ Tree Foundation to support the planting of trees in New Jersey cities. The goal of Dentis-Trees is to help the environment while reinforcing the benefits dental practices realize by going paperless.

The year’s Dentis-Trees tree planting took place at the Burch Charter School of Excellence in Irvington, New Jersey. Students, school board members and staff attended to help plant the dogwood tree. Each third-grade class presented to the crowd through sharing poems about planting trees, singing a song about brushing and flossing teeth, and shared what they have learned about dental hygiene.

For the past three years, the school has been a recipient of the Delta Dental of New Jersey Foundation’s Oral Health Education Initiative Grant, which is used to help fund the school’s oral health curriculum for third-grade classrooms. The students in attendance benefited from the grant during this school year.

All dental offices that signed up for direct deposit were enrolled in a drawing to be selected at random for a chance to be featured on a plaque placed beside the tree. The winning dental office was Dr. Corrie Crowe in Voorhees, New Jersey.
