DELTA DENTAL OF NEW JERSEY HEAD OF IT SECURITY ROOTA ALMEIDA TO SPEAK AT
2016 MIT SLOAN CIO SYMPOSIUM
More than 700 CIOs and Senior IT Executives to Gather and Collaborate On Thriving in the Digital Economy
PARSIPPANY, N.J. — May 09 2016 — Delta Dental of New Jersey today announced that Head of IT Security Roota Almeida will join CIOs and senior IT executives as a featured panelist at the premier 2016 MIT Sloan CIO Symposium on May 18, 2016.
Now in its 13th year, the MIT Sloan CIO Symposium is a world class, one-day conference, held on the MIT campus. More than 700 CIOs, senior IT executives and MIT academic thought leaders will collaborate and explore how innovative technologies and leading-edge research can accelerate technology success through the theme of “Thriving in the Digital Economy.”
Almeida’s panel, “Mitigating Cyber Risks in the Growing World of Internet-Connected Devices,” joins others in arming organizations for digital success. MIT thought leaders will also be weighing in throughout the Symposium’s panels including Erik Brynjolfsson, Andrew McAfee, George Westerman, Barbara Haley Wixom, Leslie Owens, Peter Weill, Sandy Pentland, Marshall Van Alstyne, Stuart Madnick, and others.
“I am honored and excited to participate in the MIT Sloan CIO Symposium, particularly on this topic,” said Almeida. “The number of Internet-connected Devices is expected to increase from about four billion to over 20 billion devices by 2020, creating wonderful new capabilities, but also more cyber risks. It’s important for our industry to band together to address the strategic, managerial, and operational issues of cybersecurity, and I’m happy to be a part of that conversation.”
“According to MIT Sloan research (Source: Leading Digital), companies that thrive in the digital economy are 26% more profitable than their industry peers,” said Lindsey Anderson, Chair of the MIT Sloan CIO Symposium. “The 2016 Symposium speakers will provide insights into ways CIOs can help their organizations thrive in the digital economy by excelling in the strategic use of data, leading digital innovation, creating new business opportunities through platform strategies, and adapting to the changing nature of work and the workplace.”
The Symposium will take place Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kresge Auditorium on the MIT Campus, located at 77 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA.
