"Milk Matters" Campaign Provides Free Educational Resources

"Milk Matters" is a nationwide campaign sponsored by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) to educate people about the importance of calcium for building healthy bones and teeth. Studies show that most children do not get enough calcium in their diet.

The campaign offers free campaign materials for educators, including:
* Why Milk Matters Now for Children and Teens, an eight-panel fact sheet about the importance of milk. It is also available in Spanish.
* Milk Matters poster and stickers, available in English and Spanish
* Why Milk Matters for Your Child's Health, a 12-page booklet that explains why calcium is important for bones and teeth, how much calcium children need at different ages, and what foods are high in calcium. It is also available in Spanish.

In addition, a 12-page coloring book, called Milk Matters with Buddy Brush is available for downloading. It is designed to teach children ages four to eight about the importance of building strong teeth and a healthy body. To download, go to www.nichd.nih.gov/milk/book0115/coloringbook0115.pdf.
