DELTA DENTAL FOUNDATION GRANTS OVER $185,000 TO CONNECTICUT COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS TO SUPPORT ORAL HEALTH FOR THE UNDERSERVED

PARSIPPANY, NJ (April 2009)

The Delta Dental of New Jersey Foundation (the Foundation) will donate over $185,000 in 2009 to five community organizations in Connecticut. The money will be used to support dental care for Connecticut’s underserved children and families, developmentally disabled and senior citizen populations as well as support oral health education programs. Beginning this year, the Foundation has entered a grant partnership with Yale-New Haven Hospital to expand their dental services by constructing a new, state-of-the-art dental facility in Hamden, Connecticut.

“Delta Dental is committed to providing Connecticut residents access to oral health care,” said Gene F. Napoliello, D.D.S., president of the Foundation. “The community organizations and healthcare facilities we have chosen to support this year share our mission to promote oral health to the greatest number of people and work to provide dental care while treating their patients with dignity and respect.” 

Delta Dental of New Jersey established the Foundation in 1986. Its mission includes promoting and assisting educational projects devoted to the enhancement of dental health, research programs designed to increase public awareness of the general benefits of good oral health, and improving dental health through the science of dentistry. Each year, the Foundation awards close to $1 million to the community in the form of grants to organizations in New Jersey and Connecticut.
