ITS NEW DENTAL ACCESS PLAN - DELTA DENTAL PATIENT
DIRECT
-Program offers access to dental care at affordable prices for New Jersey residents
without dental insurance-
PARSIPPANY, NJ (January 3, 2006) – In
an effort to improve oral health throughout New
Jersey, Delta Dental of New Jersey (Delta Dental),
the leading dental benefits carrier in the state,
recently launched its new dental access plan,
Delta Dental Patient Direct (Patient Direct).
The plan offers New Jersey individuals and families
without dental insurance access to a network
of participating Delta Dental dentists who agree
to provide members dental care at fees no higher
than the Patient Direct fee schedule. Savings
of up to 40% may be possible for general services
such as routine cleanings, fillings, x-rays,
dentures, orthodontia, cosmetic services and
more. Membership to Patient Direct also includes
EyeMed Vision Care savings on optical exams,
glasses, frames and contact lenses.
"We are proud to now offer an affordable
option for those throughout the state who cannot
afford or do not have access to dental insurance,
such as senior citizens and those who are self-employed," said
Dr. Scott Navarro, dental director of Delta Dental
of New Jersey. "Patient Direct allows us
to expand our scope of service, offering individuals
and families throughout the state direct access
to oral healthcare and our network of credentialed
dentists."
More and more research has been suggesting a
connection between oral health and overall health,
reinforcing the importance of regular visits
to the dentist to detect and sometimes even prevent
certain health complications. According to the
National Center for Health Statistics, people
with dental insurance visit the dentist nearly
twice as often as those without. Patient Direct
aims to have the same effect by enabling people
to pay more attention to their oral health and
schedule preventive care more often.
The annual fee is $66 for individuals and $96
for families. Family membership includes spouse,
all children under 23 years of age and any disabled
child who is fully dependent. Since Patient Direct
is not insurance there are no waiting periods,
claim forms, maximums or deductibles; members
are responsible for paying 100% of the participating
dentist's fee.
