Oral Health Education Grant Offered to Third Graders in Abbott Schools

For the second year in a row, the Delta Dental of New Jersey Foundation is offering a grant to third graders in Abbott School Districts (including Charter Schools located in Abbott School Districts). The Oral Health Education Initiative (OHEI) grant will hopefully set the precedent for oral health programs in schools. Currently, oral health education is lacking in New Jersey schools, and our Foundation’s goal with this grant is to encourage schools to incorporate oral health in the classroom, especially in underserved areas. 

The OHEI grant requires schools to create one oral health program for each month of the school year. Three schools, each from a different Abbott School District, will be recipients of this grant. The grant will cover the costs of supplies, educational materials, and other items needed to create an oral health program. All grant applications are due by Monday, June 16, 2008. The grants will be awarded in September 2008.
