National Flossing Day is November 23
November 23, 2007 is National Flossing Day! The National Flossing Council (NFC) celebrates National Flossing Day the day after Thanksgiving each year. The NFC figures the best day to celebrate flossing is after the national day for eating!
The first National Flossing Day was held in 2000 in Washington DC and various parts of the country. In 2005, Ben & Jerry’s Factory Tour handed out free floss to over 1,000 visitors, a church in West Virginia gave out floss cards on their “Parent’s Night Out,” and Washington DC honored National Flossing Day by hosting a floss/food art competition in which people used food to create and showcase flossing in a fun, creative way.
The NFC is an all-volunteer organization founded in 1996. It now has representatives in most states. The NFC’s goal is to popularize floss and flossing through fun and unusual advertising campaigns, videos, and floss-related competitions and awards programs.
