Nationwide Survey Finds Parents Understand Importance of Good Oral Health

Most parents take time to teach their children about oral health, according to a recent survey of 1,165 adults with children.

The survey found that:

  • 92% of parents take time to teach their children about proper oral health.
  • 83% of parents said that daily oral health care is at least as important as daily exercise.

The survey also identified some barriers that prevent many parents from obtaining oral health care for their children.

  • An estimated 11.6 million U.S. families do not seek oral health care for children at least once a year.
  • Almost 22 million families with children are without dental insurance.
  • Lack of insurance is a significant barrier for many families in obtaining dental care.
