Finding valuable, accurate health-related information on the Internet can be difficult. A good place to start is "healthfinder," an award-winning federal Web site for consumers, developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, along with other federal agencies. The site, at www.healthfinder.gov, helps users find the best government and nonprofit health and human services information on the Internet, and includes links to more than 1,700 health-related organizations.
The healthfinder project is coordinated by the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion and the National Health Information Center.
A recent search on "oral health" using the healthfinder search engine identified 42 relevant Web sites.
There's also "healthfinder kids," at www.healthfinder.gov/kids/, which provides links to child-safe health-related information ("cool and uncool stuff"), more than 80 games, nearly 40 U.S. government sites designed for children, and more.
Healthfinder also includes a Spanish-language version, at www.healthfinder.gov/espanol/.
