The Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act (CHIPRA) and the federal health care reform legislation together could bring
oral health coverage to nearly all U.S. children. CHIPRA mandates comprehensive dental coverage for children in separate state Children’s Health Insurance Programs. The Delta Dental of New Jersey Foundation recently granted $40,000 to the Henry J. Austin Health Center to help provide oral health care to those who cannot afford it. "Henry J. Austin casts a wide safety net with its community dental service while Delta Dental funding ensures that the neediest uninsured patients do not slip by without the appropriate dental treatment
- truly a win-win for all," said Richard M. Mushock, CFO, Henry J. Austin Health Center.
Our Foundation granted awards to four of New Jersey’s dental hygiene schools for the 2010-2011 academic year: Bergen Community College, Middlesex County College, Burlington County College, and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Health Related Professions. Since 1999, the Foundation has awarded nearly $300,000 in scholarship grants, typically ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 per school, per year.
