Learn Oral Health Terms in a Click

Do you sometimes wonder what certain dental terms mean? Nearly everyone knows about cavities and fluoride. But how familiar are you with words like gingivitis, periodontics and usual fee

Wonder no longer. Our Web site features an extensive glossary of dental definitions to help you better understand your oral health and benefits. Just go to www.deltadentalnj.com. Click "Oral Health" on the left navigation bar and scroll down to “Dental Terms.”

And, for the record:

  • Gingivitis is “an inflammation of the gums surrounding the teeth caused by a buildup of plaque or food particles.”

  • Periodontics is “a dental specialty concerned with the treatment of gums, tissue and bone that supports the teeth.”

  • Usual fee is “the fee that an individual dentist most frequently charges for a given dental service.”

We define more than 80 dental terms in clear, jargon-free language. The more you know about the language of oral health, the easier it will be for you to talk about it with your dentist!
