COB Claims Can Now Be Submitted Online By Dental Offices

Dentists can now submit coordination of benefit (COB) claims directly to Delta Dental online. Dental offices can submit the following types of claims and pretreatment estimates online:

  • Claims with dates of service, no COB
  • COB with carrier other than Delta Dental Plan of New Jersey
  • COB with two or more Delta Dental Plan of New Jersey coverages
  • COB with capitation
  • Pretreatment estimate (PTE) for non-dated services
  • Payment of a PTE with no COB (must have a PTE voucher number)

Online claims submission can save your dentist time and money. Claims are processed faster, plus the system prompts users for incomplete or inaccurate information (such as the subscriber's Social Security number or date of birth) that could cause processing delays.

Online claims submission costs your dentist absolutely nothing to use, except for his or her Internet connection. It is also convenient. If the primary claim can process all the way through, our system will generate the secondary claim at the time of your dentist's submission. If the primary claim pends, we will generate the secondary claim when we process the primary claim. After your dentist submits the claim, everything else is done automatically.

Our online claims submission system also protects your privacy. Eligibility and dental benefit information is released only to authorized individuals. Our site uses industry standards such as firewalls and Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to safeguard your personal information. It encrypts all personal information including Social Security numbers, name, and all plan coverage and benefit information.

Any practicing dentist in the United States may use our online claims submission feature to submit claims to Delta Dental Plan of New Jersey for patients covered by our Delta Dental Plan. Your dentist can access our online claims submission feature by going to www.deltadentalnj.com, clicking Dentists and logging on to Benefits Connection. (Note: Only practicing dentists - not subscribers - may file claims to Delta Dental online.)
