How Our Relationship with Delta Dental
Plans Association Benefits Your Clients
Delta Dental offers clients the best of all worlds: both a strong local and national presence. As Delta Dental of New Jersey, we are based in New Jersey and serve groups headquartered in New Jersey and Connecticut. But that doesn’t mean all of our subscribers live in these states. Through the Delta Dental Plans Association (DDPA), we offer groups and their employees access to the largest dental network nationwide. Delta Dental of New Jersey serves many New Jersey- and Connecticut-based groups with employees at sites throughout the United States.
Five of our account executives were honored by DDPA in May for outstanding national sales achievement. They sold Delta Dental programs to new national groups. Winners include:
-
Kristin Gallagher. In her first year as an eligible award recipient, Gallagher brought on a new national account and at least 1,500 members.
-
Mark FitzGerald. In just two short years, FitzGerald has been responsible for adding national accounts and more than 5,000 members.
-
Ed Maloney. During his tenure, Maloney has added national accounts and more than 25,000 members.
-
Tina Sparrow. Sparrow entered the National Hall of Fame for adding national accounts and more than 50,000 members.
-
Kim White. White, who entered the Hall of Fame in 2000, was recognized for bringing on national accounts and more than 92,000 members during her tenure.
National accounts help enhance Delta Dental’s position in the national marketplace. More than 1 in 4
Fortune 1000 companies now offer dental benefits to their employees through Delta Dental member companies.
New Tool
Helps Members Assess Oral Health Risks
We understand that dental health is important to your clients. With that in mind, Delta Dental of New Jersey has developed a quick, easy-to-use risk assessment tool. This tool will help assess risk for dental disease and provides members an opportunity to discuss a personal treatment plan with their dentist.
The tool consists of nine brief statements. If you answer yes to any one of these statements, you may be at an increased risk for dental disease.
The tool also explains how these risks may impact your oral health, and what can be done to mitigate these risks.
To download the risk assessment tool, visit our Web site at www.deltadentalnj.com and click “risk assessment form” under “What’s new.”

Spotlight: Diane Baquero
Small groups are a big deal for Diane Baquero, our new Sales Associate in Marketing. Diane handles small group sales (10-99 lives) in central and northern New Jersey.
She started working here earlier this year on a temporary basis, and knew right away that Delta Dental was where she wanted to be. “Coming here was a dream come true,” Diane says. “I had eight years of experience in the medical insurance industry serving small groups, which I really enjoyed. Coincidently, when I got the call about the position at Delta Dental, I was working at a dental office. From my first day here, I sat down and felt right at home. I knew this was what I was destined to do.”
She became a full-time employee in September.
From her experience in medical benefits, Diane learned what small groups need and want.
“Employers are looking for a product that will retain their employees and be cost effective,” she says. “They want something that keeps them happy and their employees satisfied. My job is to help find the product that’s the best fit. I get a thrill out of helping them find a product that meets all their needs.”
Once small groups join Delta Dental, Diane makes sure their program runs smoothly. “Small groups don’t always have a dedicated benefits administrator in house,” Diane says. “Sometimes the person who owns the company handles benefits. But whoever does the job is responsible for lots of other things, as well. When they have questions, I help them quickly find answers so they can get back to everything else.”
Diane lives in Whippany with her 16-year-old son, a student at Seton Hall Prep.

Spotlight: Luhra Ebarle
People don’t always understand their employer’s dental plan. Part of Luhra Ebarle’s job is to make things crystal clear.
Luhra is Delta Dental’s newest service coordinator. The longtime Delta Dental employee joined the company in 1998, and most recently served as Marketing secretary. Mark Nadeau, Vice President, Marketing, announced her promotion to service coordinator in April. “It is always gratifying when you can promote a long-term employee who has made significant contributions,” he said.
Service coordinators work closely with account executives to help manage relationships with our large groups and their employees. Luhra works with Account Executive Kristin Gallagher, and serves Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May and Gloucester counties.
“I’m still getting my feet wet, but I really like what I’m doing,” says Luhra. “There’s a lot of face-to-face contact with brokers, HR administrators and employees in the different groups. Sometimes they have questions or misperceptions about their benefits, and I’m there to make sure they get the information they need. Because I’m new to the job, I don’t have all the answers right away, but I’ll find them as fast as possible!”
Luhra will graduate next year with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing at Berkeley College in West Paterson, NJ. In her spare time she enjoys cooking different varieties of food, hiking, and other outdoor sports.
